Reputationz’ predictions for 2010 and beyond
January 25, 2010
New Year resolutions happen every year, but predictions generally only occur at the turn of a decade. Knowing what might happen before it actually occurs would certainly be handy.
If we could predict what might happen it would certainly give us a competitive edge. We could be ‘one-step-ahead-of-the-game’, give us an opportunity to maximise every opportunity and put all our efforts into those things likely to generate the greatest reward – whatever we might want that to be.
Moving from the ‘noughties’ to the teen years of the 21st Century gives us a opportunity, not only to look back on what happend between 2000 and 2009 – think iTunes, the social media explosion and wireless internet – but also to look ahead and predict what might happen during 2010 and beyond.Having been invited to share my predictions for 2010 in a new ebook by Ann Andrews at The Corporate Toolbox, I felt it timely to share them with TrustBite readers as well. Feel free to post a comment to let me know if you agree with me!
- Our digital communications will become ‘Faster, Shorter, Further’
- Word-of-mouth buzz, online and off, will continue to trump paid advertising and promotion
- ‘Celebrity’ endorsements will lose their attraction, and ‘citizen’ endorsements will become more powerful and influential
- A consistent, positive online presence will become a must-have, not a nice-to-have
- ‘Freemium’ will drive ‘Premium’ (‘prove you have what I want before I pay to engage with you’)
- The total experience will attract and retain customers, not the product or service that’s provided
- Second chances will be replaced with ‘one strike and you’re out’
- Growing cynicism. We will be increasingly cynical of the claims companies make
- We’ll want more of the 4Ts: Truthfulness, Transparency, Trust and Thanks
- The more valued, and valuable, you make people feel, they more they’ll use and recommend you
